The Game Boy Classic (jap. ゲームボーイ, Gēmu Bōi) was developed by Nintendo's mastermind Gunpei Yokoi. The Game Boy was first introduced to the public in Japan on 21. April 1989 and is the most sold portable console ever. Shortly after the release in Japan the Game Boy entered the US market on 31. July 1989. Gamers in Europe had to wait more than a year until the console was officially available. Nintendo France reserved an entire section in the official Nintendo Club Magazine (1990/02) to introduce the Game Boy, the games and accessories to their fan community.
